Overview
source: linkMeta's Kuna campus, in the high desert southwest of Boise, is an $800 million, 960,000-square-foot data center on roughly 485 acres. Announced in 2022, it slipped to late 2026 after Meta rescoped the design for denser AI hardware.
The power story hides behind a shell. Meta contracted with Idaho Power through an entity called Brisbie LLC, using the utility's first "green tariff," and is set to become Idaho Power's largest customer. Combined with the chipmaker Micron, the new load would require Idaho Power to grow its capacity by an estimated 50 to 75 percent, and a 2025 rate case raising residential bills drew protests that households are subsidizing data-center growth.
Water is Idaho's flashpoint. The campus is estimated to use 400,000 to 600,000 gallons a day over the Treasure Valley aquifer in a region that gets about 11 inches of rain a year. The state passed a 2026 law barring future centers from evaporative cooling, and Meta built and gave Kuna a $70 million water and wastewater system. Idaho's 2020 sales-tax exemption lets the company skip tens of millions in tax for roughly 100 permanent jobs.

Grid & water — why here
source: HIFLD · EPAThe closest existing grid infrastructure and the municipal water system this location sits in — the same constraints the buildout model screens on (it won't site a campus more than ~2 km from a substation or ~5 km from municipal water). Distances are straight-line to public HIFLD/EPA features, not a metered connection.

Tax breaks & subsidies
source: Good Jobs First / GASB 77No per-deal tax break is linked to this site yet. No state discloses the recipient of a data-center abatement at the facility level, so per-site deals are rare in the public record. If you have a development agreement or board resolution for this site, send it to us.
Water use
No measured record exists, so this is a low-confidence model from 198 MW (disclosed IT power): 1.2 L/kWh cooling (cool climate) + 0.45 gal/kWh embedded in US grid average. How we estimate. Have a utility document? Send it and we'll replace this with the real figure.
